Ryan Hledik Quoted in a Recent Latitude Media Article on Large Load Tariffs
Principal Ryan Hledik was quoted in a recent Latitude Media article on the landscape of large load tariffs. There are currently at least 65 large load tariffs pending or in place across 34 states in the United States, 46 of which were new this year, according to the Smart Electric Power Alliance.
Mr. Hledik explained that, while the level of activity around large load tariffs started to pick up in 2024, 2025 saw utilities scrambling to both attract load and protect themselves and their existing customers. He also noted, “You don’t have to have large load tariffs; utilities have rates in place to recover costs from large customers. The reason it’s happening now is because utilities are seeing that these customers, in a variety of ways, are different from the rest of the customers they’ve been serving historically.”
