Brattle Experts Discuss the Use of Advanced Tariffs to Serve Large Load Customers in New Article

Brattle Managing Energy Associate Dr. Long Lam, Energy Specialist Jadon Grove, and Principal Dr. Sanem Sergici have coauthored an article on advanced tariffs introduced by utilities to serve large load customers in GridX’s 2nd issue of PowerShift.
Through the current surge in demand for electricity, much of which comes from very large load customers, electric utilities need to balance a number of objectives, including maintaining reliability goals, mitigating financial risks, and meeting state policy objectives. One tool utilities have increasingly relied upon in these moments is tariffs. In the article, the authors explore the patterns that are emerging with large load tariffs.
