Brattle Report on Benefits of Community Energy Program Investments Featured in PV Magazine
A Brattle report prepared for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) explores how investments by large-scale data center developers in community-based energy programs could address the rising electricity demand and lower household utility bills.
The report, Hyperscaler Support for Community Energy Programs: Options and Impacts for Household Energy Investments, examines a strategic approach for aligning corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) with investments that benefit residents and communities.
“The Brattle Group analysis evaluated the tangible impacts of targeted community energy deployment across four key emerging tech and data center hubs: Atlanta, Georgia; Columbus, Ohio; Kansas City, Missouri; and Memphis, Tennessee,” writes Ryan Kennedy for PV Magazine. “The findings reveal that a coordinated investment of roughly $1 billion per city into localized programs could unlock a combined 1.4 GW of summer peak capacity.”
