A study prepared by Brattle found that the United States’ nuclear power plants avoid 573 million tons of CO2 annually representing $25 billion in social costs assuming the federal government’s cost per ton estimates. The study also estimates that the plants avoid 650,000 tons of NOx and 1 million tons of SOx annually.
