Analysis of anticompetitive effects in health care system merger

A Brattle expert provided economic analysis on the potential competitive effects of a merger between two Philadelphia-area health care systems, Jefferson Health and Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. The proposed merger was challenged by the FTC due to concerns of the anticompetitive effects it could have on inpatient general acute care and acute rehabilitation services in Philadelphia County as well as neighboring Montgomery County. Brattle provided expert reports, and deposition and trial testimony on behalf of the FTC.
