Brattle experts were members of a consulting team retained by Dow Corning to estimate claim liabilities payable from the Settlement Trust for medical conditions that were alleged to be caused by silicone breast implants it manufactured. Brattle experts prepared analyses for the debtor during its bankruptcy, modeling the expected performance of the proposed plan and estimating how the bankruptcy structure could affect claiming and opt-out rates. Post-emergence, Brattle experts assisted Dow Corning in modeling Trust funding adequacy in regards to its obligation to pay premiums to past and future claimants.  A Brattle expert filed a series of expert declarations in the District Court in connection with Dow Corning’s opposition to the Trust Finance Committee’s initial recommendation to make premium payments.
