Brattle was retained by Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP to support the Future Claimants’ Representative (FCR) in the Aldrich Pump LLC and Murray Boiler LLC bankruptcy proceeding. Brattle experts Paul Hinton and David McKnight coauthored affirmative and rebuttal reports concerning the forecasted number and value of the Debtors’ asbestos claims. Mr. McKnight testified during a five-day claims estimation trial concerning current and future asbestos liabilities based on the Debtors’ historical experience resolving claims in the tort system.

In a September 25, 2026 order, the US Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina adopted Brattle’s $608 million estimate of mesothelioma liabilities and estimated total asbestos-related liabilities at $742.5 million. The Court found Mr. McKnight’s critiques “credible and reliable” and his conclusions “persuasive, well-reasoned, and supported by statistical and econometric principles.”
